Passage

This song came after a conversation in the woods between Enrique and Macarena in which they shared thoughts on the feeling of being part of a bigger picture, a flow of evolution. They pondered on the fact that if each choice and action contributes to the way the flow unfolds, then each person’s passage on this earth carries an important degree of responsibility. Our actions, perceptions, reactions, thoughts, states are not just episodes lost in time or confined in the intimacy of our inner self; they are not important only when shared; they can become part of the essential tools that evolution will use to shape its future.

The Passage contemplates the deep inner spaces from which meaningful and altruistic actions arise. Giving, learning and growing beyond one’s own personal interest awakens in us the agency to contribute to the greater mission of living a useful life. Little do we understand about the mystery of life, but we can learn much from the effect of our actions, and by taking care of the small, the unseen, the fine. It seems that at the end of our passage here, prestigious awards, titles and recognitions do not validate the quality of our being… these are just shadows of our passage. What counts, seems to be the ineffable uniqueness of our perceptions, the tenderness of our touch, the joy of being oneself, the freedom you inspire in others, the simplicity of a day of gratitude for being alive and all that which such actions cause around and within.
